Gypsy-Rose Blanchard, known for her tumultuous past and incarceration, recently shared her experience of dealing with online trolls who targeted her physical appearance, specifically mocking her nose. In a candid conversation on Tori Spelling’s misSPELLING podcast, Blanchard revealed that the sudden fame she garnered post her release from prison in December 2023 led to an influx of hateful comments regarding her nose.
The 33-year-old survivor of Munchausen by proxy, who spent eight years in prison for the murder of her mother Dee Dee, expressed her shock at the overnight celebrity status she found herself in. Blanchard remarked, “Coming out of prison I got on social media and there were all these people judging me and basically making me a celebrity overnight. I’m not a celebrity, I don’t think of myself as a celebrity, I’m just a person and I didn’t expect to come out to such a big platform.”

Before undergoing rhinoplasty in April 2024, Blanchard disclosed that posting selfies on social media would often attract hurtful comments criticising her nose. She recounted, “I learned really fast that there are people that will not take their shoe off to tell you, you have a big ass nose.”

On a separate occasion in October 2024, during an appearance on The Viall Files, Blanchard reflected on the anxiety she felt leading up to the cosmetic surgery. She shared, “This is something that I had been wanting for a long time. I had been teased for my nose forever, and social media just made that even worse. I was called ‘the nose.’ I was called all kinds of things. Ugh. You know, so having the surgery was something that was going to boost my self-confidence and make me feel like the woman that I want to become.”
Blanchard’s decision to undergo rhinoplasty was a part of her personal transformation journey, aiming to enhance her self-image. In an exclusive statement to PEOPLE in April 2024, she expressed her motivation, stating, “I’m going through a personal transformation journey currently and that includes a physical one, too.”
A close friend of Blanchard’s, Nadiya Vizier, revealed that the main goal of the procedure was to give Blanchard a more feminine-looking nose. The transformation became evident when Blanchard made a public appearance post-surgery with a noticeable new look, indicating that the procedure had been successful.
Blanchard’s story serves as a testament to her resilience in the face of adversity, as she navigates her journey of self-discovery and empowerment. Her openness about the challenges she has faced with online harassment sheds light on the importance of body positivity and self-acceptance in a digital age where negativity can often overshadow personal growth and healing.
As Blanchard continues to inspire others with her story of survival and transformation, her courage in confronting trolls and embracing change stands as a beacon of hope for those seeking to overcome similar struggles in their own lives.
