Reports have since emerged of at least one survivor rescued from the wreckage, with Air India releasing a statement from its CEO affirming that some passengers had been hospitalized due to injuries sustained in the crash. Malik informed The New York Times that 204 bodies had been recovered from the crash site.
In response to this tragic event, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his profound sadness, stating, “It is heartbreaking beyond words. In this sad hour, my thoughts are with everyone affected by it.” He assured that he had conferred with government officials and authorities working to provide assistance to those impacted by the catastrophe. India’s Aviation Minister, Shri. Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, also conveyed his sympathies and pledged swift action and aid for all affected individuals.
