During a Q&A session following a screening of the movie, Sedgwick revealed that she found filming a breakup scene between their characters to be particularly challenging. Sedgwick, who is 59 years old, expressed, “I had a little crossover of like, ‘Oh my God, what if this had happened [in real life]?’ Instead of what happened, which is that we’re still together, but ‘What if this had happened?’ And I got very emotional about it.” Bacon, aged 66, also reflected on their long-lasting marriage during the event.

“The Best You Can” portrays Bacon and Sedgwick as characters who form an unexpected friendship that blossoms into something deeper. The synopsis of the film describes their characters as navigating through life’s ups and downs, ultimately forming a connection that defies easy explanation.
