Jodie Sweetin Reflects on ‘Full House’ Co-star Ashley Olsen Embracing Motherhood

Jodie Sweetin, known for her role in the popular sitcom “Full House,” recently shared her thoughts on her former co-star Ashley Olsen stepping into motherhood. Olsen, who welcomed a son with her husband in 2023, was Sweetin’s co-star on Full House from 1987 to 1995. The actress exclusively spoke to PEOPLE before recording a live episode of her podcast, “How Rude, Tanneritos!,” which she co-hosts with another Full House alum, Andrea Barber.
During the interview, Sweetin discussed parenthood and her upcoming projects, expressing her feelings about seeing her former child co-stars now having children of their own. She remarked on the surreal experience, stating, “I think it’s how the adults [on the Full House set] felt for us. When we came around with our kids, they were just like, ‘This is so weird. You’re old enough to have a child, what?’”
Olsen, now 38, became a mother to a son named Otto in 2023 with her husband Louis Eisner. Sweetin reminisced about their time working on Full House together, alongside Olsen and her twin sister, Mary-Kate Olsen. While the Olsen twins did not participate in the Full House reboot, Fuller House, Sweetin reprised her role as Stephanie Tanner from 2016 to 2020.
Sweetin also shared insights into her own children, daughters Zoie, 17, and Beatrix, 14, mentioning that they have not shown much interest in her iconic Full House legacy. She revealed, “Even when they were little, they were like, ‘It’s weird.’ It was probably on, like, Nick at Nite or something. I’m sure my mom or dad, when the kids were little, [were] like, ‘Oh, you want to watch mom on the show?’ And even at 2, they were probably like, ‘No.’”
When asked if her daughters have inherited her passion for acting, Sweetin noted that her younger daughter, Bea, shows a flair for performance, while Zoie leans more towards sports. Sweetin jokingly added, “But Bea, if you just let her go, she will figure out how to put on a show somewhere.”
Despite her roots in comedy through Full House, Sweetin revealed her excitement about transitioning into a more dramatic role in an upcoming Lifetime movie titled “Dateless to Dangerous.” The film delves into the theme of young men’s radicalization online, with Sweetin portraying the main character’s mother. She shared her enthusiasm for the project, highlighting the departure from her usual comedic roles. The movie is set to premiere on June 21 on Lifetime.
While Sweetin expressed her willingness to be part of another Full House reboot in the future, she looks forward to showcasing her versatility as an actress through diverse roles like the one in “Dateless to Dangerous.” With her candid reflections on parenthood and career evolution, Jodie Sweetin continues to captivate audiences with her multi-faceted talents and relatable anecdotes.
