McIlroy explained that his frustration stemmed from the revelation that his driver had been deemed nonconforming during the championship, prompting him to swap it out for another one.

During the competition, news surfaced about McIlroy’s club failing to meet the required standards, a common occurrence as the club face can deteriorate with repeated use. He recounted feeling dissatisfied with his game on the first day, opting to focus on practice. Subsequently, he prioritised spending time with his daughter before her bedtime, and encountered delays in his schedule on subsequent days. Ultimately, on the final day, McIlroy chose to return home instead of contending further in the championship.
