The mansion holds a special place in history, having been previously owned by the iconic musician Paul Simon and his wife, Edie Brickell, before Richard Gere acquired it. Hudson Valley House Parts expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to salvage key elements of the property, such as the Greek revival front portico, cast stone wellhead, and carved limestone mantel, which will find new homes across the country. Additionally, items like the cerused oak library, French doors, bay windows, and antique bluestone are being saved as well.
Prior to selling the mansion, Richard Gere and Alejandra had resided there for two years after purchasing it in 2022. Reports suggest that Richard had considered transforming the property into a farm, but ultimately, their decision to move to Spain altered their plans. Alejandra, in an interview with the Daily Mail, hinted at their potential return to the U.S. in the future, highlighting the importance of balancing their lives between Spain and America.
