Dylan Dreyer, the popular meteorologist and co-anchor of the Today show, recently shared her favourite world at the new Epic Universe theme park. The Today show dedicated all four hours of its broadcast on May 21 to the grand opening of the new Universal theme park in Orlando, Florida. With five exciting worlds to explore, Dreyer expressed her enthusiasm for the park’s video-game inspired destination – the Nintendo world.
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Dreyer revealed, “The Nintendo world, 100%. I mean, we play either Super Mario Party or Mario Kart every single weekend. Every single weekend! My boys are obsessed. I’ve been obsessed with Nintendo since I was little.” Apart from the Nintendo world, the park also offers themes such as The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk, Dark Universe, and Celestial Park.
Dreyer, who shares three sons – Cal, Ollie, and Rusty – with her husband Brian Fichera, recalled taking her kids to explore Super Nintendo World before the park’s grand opening. She shared how her boys were thrilled to ride the attractions, even though the youngest, Rusty, was just a bit too short for some of the rides. The family outing allowed Dreyer to blend work and play seamlessly.
With a hectic schedule that includes work trips to various locations, such as Paris and live broadcasts from a cruise ship, Dreyer highlighted the irony that she often gets more rest while travelling. She jokingly mentioned her usual nightly disruptions at home with her three energetic boys and a dog sharing her bed.
