Memphis Garrett, known for his appearance on the reality show Big Brother, has found himself in legal trouble after being arrested on suspicion of embezzling over $100,000 in state taxes. The Broward Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the 42-year-old reality star was apprehended at an airport in Florida on May 15 following a warrant issued by the Department of Revenue.
The online arrest record reveals that Garrett, whose real name is Robert Garrett, is facing allegations of failing to pay significant sums in sales tax. Specifically, he is charged with a first-degree felony for the theft of state funds. The arrest record also indicates that his bond of $15,000 is pending.
According to a probable cause affidavit obtained by PEOPLE, Garrett is accused of not paying $55,366.77 in sales taxes from his LLC, Poke House Lauderdale, spanning from November 2022 to October 2024. The LLC operates two businesses, The Poke House and No Man’s Land Miami LLC. Reports of Garrett’s arrest were first made public by TMZ.
Representatives for Garrett have not yet responded to requests for comment on the matter. The arrest comes over a year after Garrett filed for divorce from Christmas Abbott in March 2024, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the separation. Notably, Abbott did not seek alimony in the divorce proceedings.
