Brady Bunch Cast Reflects on Show Not Getting Renewed
In a recent exclusive interview at The Chocolate Expo held at Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y., on Sunday, May 4, cast members of the iconic television show The Brady Bunch opened up about their experience when they found out the show wasn’t going to be renewed. The castmates, including Barry Williams, Christopher Knight, Mike Lookinland, and Susan Olsen, shared their memories and emotions as they reminisced about the end of the show’s five-year run.
Knight, known for his role as Peter Brady, raised the question to his fellow actors, “Do you guys remember finding out? Because I think we just went on hiatus. Probably not expecting to come back or did we know we were …” Williams, who played Greg Brady, expressed his optimism saying, “I thought we were coming back for sure.” Olsen, who portrayed Cindy Brady, revealed, “I had the feelings that we wouldn’t be coming back. And I was hoping that we wouldn’t.”

Negotiations for a new season would have been necessary for the show to continue. Olsen highlighted the timeframe involved, stating, “We stopped shooting in February. They would’ve had to start up again in June. Knight reflected on these reunions, emphasizing the bond they share, “It just seems like there’s always a cycle of four or five years where something’s bringing us back together. I mean we’re talking about three different states amongst the world, so we’re a little spread out now.”
