Abigail Spencer, best known for her role as Becca Tyree on the iconic ABC soap opera “All My Children” from 1999 to 2001, recently reminisced about her time working alongside the legendary Susan Lucci. The actress shared an exclusive glimpse into a memorable moment involving her mother and the daytime TV icon.

During her tenure on the show, Spencer had the opportunity to interact closely with Susan Lucci, who portrayed the renowned character Erica Kane. Talking to PEOPLE, Spencer revealed an endearing anecdote about her mother, Lydia, visiting the set and being starstruck by Lucci’s presence.

At the New York City premiere of “The Actor,” Spencer, now 43 years old, recounted the amusing encounter between her mother and the 78-year-old soap opera star. Spencer described how her mother was so in awe of Lucci’s beauty and talent that she couldn’t resist bowing and curtsying upon meeting her.

“My mother literally couldn’t help but say, ‘Oh, hello, Ms. Lucci!’ in the most formal manner,” Spencer shared, highlighting her mother’s excitement at meeting the soap opera royalty. The interaction was a special moment for Spencer as it showcased her mother’s admiration for Lucci’s work.

Spencer’s journey in the entertainment industry began when she was discovered in the audience of “Live with Regis and Kathie Lee,” leading to her breakout role on “All My Children.” Her character, Becca Tyree, was involved in romantic storylines with characters played by actors such as Josh Duhamel and Forbes March before Spencer left the show in 2001.

Since her time on the soap opera, Spencer has ventured into other noteworthy roles, including appearances in popular shows like “Suits” alongside close friend Meghan Markle and “Grey’s Anatomy” as Owen Hunt’s sister Megan. Additionally, she made a guest appearance on the hit Fox drama “9-1-1,” showcasing her versatility as an actress.
