Padma Lakshmi Redesigns Home Office for New Book and Culinary Series
Padma Lakshmi, the renowned Top Chef alum, is unveiling her newly redesigned home office space and sharing some exciting updates on her latest projects. In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, the 54-year-old culinary expert discussed her inspiration behind the office makeover, which was done in collaboration with Thumbtack, an online platform connecting people with various home service providers. Rather than opting for a complete maximalist transformation, Padma chose to make subtle changes to enhance the energy of the workspace that she and her team have utilised for about a decade.
“I still wanted to keep it nice and bright and airy,” Padma expressed. “I needed something that would be a little cozier. It looked a little stark and very utilitarian.” Her aim was to maintain functionality in the office while adding a touch of flair. The former Taste the Nation host selected a soothing pale sage green for the walls to create a calming ambiance. According to Padma, striking a balance between an energising and productive workspace, and a comfortable, cozy environment where she spends most of her waking hours is crucial.
Recent research by Thumbtack revealed that approximately 84% of individuals and 76% of homeowners prioritise home renovation and design choices that bring joy over those that increase resale value. For Padma, the office environment also influences her cookbook photoshoots and other projects, hence the importance of a soft, neutral backdrop. Her office now features images from a jewellery campaign shot by renowned photographer Steven Meisel.
Being a tactile person who values comfort during long working hours, Padma incorporated complementary rugs into the office for added coziness. Currently, she is gearing up to release her third cookbook, Padma’s All American, scheduled for release on Nov. 4. The book will showcase over 100 recipes that Padma compiled while travelling across the country for her Hulu show, Taste the Nation. Additionally, she recently received approval for a new CBS show titled American Culinary Cup, which she conceptualised. Padma is excited about staffing for the production and utilising her new, inviting office space.
The insightful redesign and Padma’s upcoming projects reflect her passion for both culinary artistry and creating inviting, functional spaces. Stay tuned for more updates on Padma Lakshmi’s culinary adventures and creative endeavours!
