An 8-year-old girl who went missing after a tragic Christmas Eve accident in Texas has yet to be found four months later, leaving search and rescue teams and her community heartbroken by the absence of closure.

Clara Robinson disappeared when her family’s car was caught in floodwaters in Texas on December 24, 2024. The Sherman Police Department handed over the search efforts to Texas EquuSearch in January, but despite extensive operations, the decision was recently made to halt the search for Clara.
In a Facebook post on Monday, April 28, Texas EquuSearch expressed the difficulty of their decision to end the search, stating, “From the very beginning, the search for Clara Robinson has stood as a testament to the power of unity, compassion, and unwavering resolve.”
Despite ongoing efforts, including underwater searches, Clara remains missing. Texas EquuSearch officially concluded their search operations on Sunday, April 27, 2025, marking a somber chapter in the search for the young girl.
According to reports, four out of the six family members involved in the crash were rescued, but Clara’s father tragically did not survive. Will Robinson, a basketball coach at Durant High School, is believed to have died while attempting to save his daughter from the floodwaters.
A joint memorial service for Will and Clara was held in January at the high school gymnasium, where friends, family, and community members came together to honour their lives and legacy.
As Texas EquuSearch announced the suspension of their search, local dive partners have committed to continuing the search independently. The organisation remains open to revisiting the search efforts should new strategies or plans emerge to locate Clara.
In light of this heartbreaking development, Texas EquuSearch expressed their gratitude towards Clara’s family, the Sherman Police Department, and the countless individuals and organisations who supported and participated in the search and rescue operations.
The memory of Clara Robinson continues to remain in the hearts of all those who have been touched by her story, as the community hopes for closure and resolution in the future. The resilience and unity displayed during the search reflect the unwavering support and compassion within the community in times of adversity.
