Hollywood actress Demi Moore recently shared insights into her style evolution and most memorable beauty and fashion looks. Known for her versatility in movie roles and red carpet appearances, the 62-year-old star delved into some of her standout moments over the years, including her iconic pixie cut featured in the 1990 film “Ghost.”
During a recent interview for PEOPLE’s “World’s Most Beautiful” cover feature, Moore revealed the story behind her dramatic haircut. She disclosed that she initially had very long hair when she met the director of “Ghost,” Jerry Zucker. Inspired by a haircut picture of Isabella Rossellini she had carried for years, Moore took a bold step while in Paris with her then-husband Bruce Willis and their daughter Rumer Willis. Despite causing a stir upon her return to the film set with the new pixie cut, the production team eventually embraced the change, seeing it as a fitting choice for her artist character.

While Moore’s long hair has become synonymous with her image, she expressed openness to a potential return to the pixie cut someday. She admitted that although unlikely, she doesn’t like to rule it out completely, citing her strong attachment to her current hairstyle. The actress credited this attachment to her experience of shaving her head for the role in the 1997 film “G.I. Jane,” where she portrayed a soldier undergoing Navy SEAL training.
Reflecting on her past fashion moments, Moore fondly recalled wearing a Thierry Mugler dress in the 1993 film “Indecent Proposal.” She shared that the dress was a crucial element in the storyline, needing to be unique and memorable. Moore highlighted the significance of good design with timeless appeal, as seen in the iconic dress that she is now attempting to retrieve for future wear.
Moore also discussed her Met Gala appearances, reminiscing about her spontaneous debut in 2001 wearing a gold gown by Donna Karan. She later wowed attendees at the 2024 Met Gala in a custom-made Harris Reed gown constructed from vintage wallpaper. The actress praised the intricate design of the gown, noting its extraordinary craftsmanship and adaptability for the event’s grand staircase entrance.
In addition to her film and fashion ventures, Moore reflected on notable hair transformations, such as sporting blonde hair during the filming of “The Butcher’s Wife” in 1990. Despite enjoying the change, she learned about the damaging effects of excessive hair dyeing. These experiences have shaped Moore’s evolving personal style and beauty choices over the years, combining experimentation with a deep appreciation for well-crafted design and self-expression.
