**First Responder Adopts Kitten Rescued from Fire in Minnesota**

Coon Rapids Community Service Officer Eric Prindle became a hero in February when he responded to a grass fire at a homeless encampment in Coon Rapids, Minn. Amidst the chaos, he discovered a small injured kitten, named JJ, who belonged to one of the individuals at the encampment.
Prindle acted swiftly and decided that immediate care was crucial for the tiny feline. He recounted his thoughts during the drive to the Animal Humane Society in Coon Rapids, saying, “Please don’t be dead in my backseat.” Fortunately, JJ was alive, despite serious eye injuries, severe facial burns, and the loss of whiskers and a part of his ears. The situation was touch-and-go, with Dr. Kate Farmer from the Animal Humane Society stating, “He was kind of a long shot, but we wanted to give him a chance.”
