The iconic R&B trio, TLC, comprised of Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas, is set to have their incredible journey brought to life on stage in a new musical production. The eagerly anticipated musical, titled CrazySexyCool —The TLC Musical, is scheduled to have its world premiere at the renowned Arena Stage in Washington, DC in June 2026.

As the best-selling American girl group in history, with over 65 million records sold worldwide, TLC’s music has left an indelible mark on the industry. The musical will celebrate the group’s groundbreaking success and explore the challenges and triumphs they faced along the way. Fans can expect to hear their favourite TLC hits as part of the show, which promises to deliver a captivating experience of defiance, triumph, and love.
The musical will run for eight weeks, from June 12 to August 9, 2026, and will feature the exceptional talents of British actor, playwright, director, and broadcaster Kwame Kwei-Armah as the writer and director. Renowned actor and author Chloe O. Davis will handle the choreography, ensuring a visually stunning and emotionally resonant production.
T-Boz expressed her excitement about seeing their story come to life on stage, stating, “Bringing this story to the stage is a dream come true for us. We have performed all over the world, but this new challenge of sharing our story through music and theatre is incredibly exciting.” Chilli added, “Audiences will get to experience our story in a unique way, blending fact and fiction, alongside our beloved hits.”
The production team behind the musical includes Bill Diggins’ Diggit Theatrical Group and Tony Award-nominated producer Stephen Gabriel, serving as executive producer. Diggins highlighted the importance of TLC’s impact on empowering women globally through their music and emphasized that the musical is not just about their songs but also the strong bond that kept them together through adversity and success.
Despite their immense success, TLC faced financial struggles early in their career due to unfair contracts, leading to a legal battle that resulted in bankruptcy in 1995. The group persevered, regaining control of their careers and continuing to produce chart-topping hits. Tragedy struck in 2002 when Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes passed away in a car accident at the age of 30, leaving a void in the group that has been felt ever since.
T-Boz and Chilli have honoured Left Eye’s memory by keeping TLC’s legacy alive through music, tours, and other projects. Reflecting on their journey, Chilli shared, “I miss her every day. She brought so much energy and creativity to our group. She would have continued to captivate audiences with her charisma and talent.”
The upcoming TLC musical promises to be a heartfelt and nostalgic tribute to the pioneering girl group, showcasing their enduring legacy and the timeless impact of their music. Season ticket packages for Arena Stage are now available, offering fans the chance to witness this unforgettable production celebrating the music and sisterhood of TLC.
