He revealed that upon their first meeting in a New York studio, they immediately clicked creatively. “Jen comes from that tradition in country music where a lot of people write songs, and so it was very comfortable right away. We just had a very good musical songwriting connection right away,” Bacon explained.
The characters portrayed by Bacon and Nettles in ‘The Bondsman’ are ex-spouses who used to perform together. Bacon’s character is portrayed as self-destructive, having sabotaged their musical connection and marriage in the past. Reflecting on his character’s arc, Bacon shared, “I had such a precious and special idea about the difference between good music and bad music that I wasn’t willing to compromise at all.”
