A disturbing case has surfaced involving a teacher accused of sexually abusing a 15-year-old student, reportedly detailing shocking revelations in a note found on her phone.

Christina Formella, a 30-year-old special education teacher from Downers Grove, Illinois, has been charged with two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and one count of criminal sexual assault against a minor. The allegations came to light when the victim’s mother discovered incriminating text messages exchanged between her son and Formella, hinting at an inappropriate relationship.

According to court documents obtained by People Magazine, explicit texts were found involving the teacher, who was also a married soccer coach. Despite the evidence, Formella denied the accusations, claiming that the victim had manipulated the situation by sending and deleting messages to frame her.
“I love having sex with you,” one of the text messages allegedly read, further highlighting the concerning nature of the communication between Formella and the student.
After Formella’s arrest, authorities seized her phone and stumbled upon a note in the Notes app that shed more light on the situation. The note, believed to be a ‘memoir’ by Formella, contained expressions of anger and disdain towards the victim, referring to him as “disgusting” and accusing him of betrayal.
In a chilling section titled “Manifestations,” Formella purportedly expressed anticipation for the victim to reconcile with her while degrading him in the process. The note hinted at a tumultuous relationship marked by a sense of superiority on Formella’s part.
During police interrogation, Formella attempted to downplay the significance of the note, attributing its contents to anxiety and redirecting any allusions to sexual activity towards her husband. She went as far as labelling the victim as a “stalker” in an apparent effort to discredit his claims.
Formella’s professional background adds another layer of concern to the case, as she had been working in the special services department at Downers Grove South High School since 2020 while also coaching the school’s soccer teams. The community is left grappling with the shocking allegations against a figure entrusted with the well-being of students.
Instances of alleged abuse of power by educators reverberate through the education system and prompt a necessary reevaluation of safeguarding measures in place. The impact of such cases extends beyond the individuals involved and underscores the importance of vigilance in protecting vulnerable individuals within educational settings.
As investigations continue into this distressing case, the allegations against Formella serve as a stark reminder of the vigilance required to safeguard students from instances of misconduct and abuse within educational institutions.
