Six Individuals Charged with Kidnapping and Assault in Ohio

Six individuals in Ohio are facing charges after allegedly holding a man captive for approximately a week and repeatedly assaulting him with a metal baseball bat. The accused include Aaron Bradshaw (49), Austin Bradshaw (23), Chance Johnston (27), David Cessna (26), Martina Esqueda (28), and Michael Esqueda (28). They are charged with kidnapping with intent to terrorize or cause serious physical harm to the victim.

According to Maumee Chief of Police Josh Sprow, the 26-year-old victim was abducted on March 14 and subjected to a week of torture and physical abuse. The victim was reported to have been beaten with a metal bat, forced to stand for extended periods, provided only liquids once a day for sustenance, and allowed minimal sleep totaling just 10 hours during his captivity.

Chief Sprow detailed that the victim sustained severe injuries from the continuous physical assault, including fractures from being struck with a baseball bat, fists, elbows, and stomping while on the ground. The victim managed to escape when he was permitted to visit a Speedway convenience store, where he sought help and contacted his mother through an acquaintance.

Martina Esqueda was identified as the primary orchestrator of the ordeal and allegedly had romantic ties with some of the other suspects involved. Chief Sprow remarked on the atypical nature of the case, noting the unusual associations between adult men and the female ringleader in the context of such criminal activities, describing it as not representative of typical incidents in the city.

The accused are currently detained at the Lucas County Corrections Center on a $200,000 bond, as reported by WEAR-TV. Their preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 1st, according to WTOL. Attempts to reach the defendants’ legal representatives for comment were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
