Blind Man Charged with Murder After Report of Three Deaths: Authorities

A man who called emergency services to report three deaths is now facing murder charges, according to police. The individual, identified as Kevin Musser, found himself at the center of a harrowing incident that unfolded in a Clarkton home in North Carolina. The Bladen County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) disclosed the shocking development in a Facebook post on March 18, detailing the events that transpired the day before.
Upon responding to the call about a shooting, deputies encountered a disturbing scene. They found Musser, 35, at the front entrance of the residence, clad in bloody clothing and clutching a handgun. Notably, Musser was the one who initiated the 22-minute 911 call, disguising himself as ‘Randy’ and alleging that three men had been shot and killed on the premises. In a bizarre revelation, Musser also claimed to authorities that he was visually impaired and that there was no hope for the victims.
As law enforcement converged on the location, Musser attempted to evade capture by retreating through the back door of the house. Nevertheless, deputies managed to apprehend him, leading to his subsequent hospitalization due to severe injuries. Tragically, the bodies of the three men – identified as Daniel Dennis, Randy Benton, and Phillip Palmer, aged 62, 54, and 32 respectively – were discovered at the site, each bearing multiple stab wounds.
After being interviewed by the Criminal Investigation Division of the BCSO, Musser was formally charged with three counts of first-degree murder, along with additional accusations of robbery with a dangerous weapon and possession of methamphetamine. Reports from Law & Crime also allege that Musser engaged in theft, specifically stealing a victim’s wallet. The gravity of the situation necessitated Musser’s placement in custody at the Bladen County Detention Center, where he remained without the option of bond.
The circumstances surrounding the victims’ relationships and the nature of Musser’s injuries remain the subject of ongoing investigation, as per Sheriff Jim McVicker’s statement to WECT.
