Gwyneth Paltrow and Timothée Chalamet are set to ignite the screen in the upcoming film ‘Marty Supreme’. The Academy Award-winning actress, aged 52, stars alongside the 29-year-old Chalamet in this A24 project directed and co-written by Josh Safdie. Inspired by the life of professional ping-pong player Marty Reisman, this film marks Paltrow’s return to acting after focusing on her various business ventures for years.

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair for the April cover, Paltrow opened up about the intimate scenes with Chalamet in the film that had caused quite a stir online when photos of them kissing on set in New York City surfaced in October 2024. Paltrow candidly mentioned, “I mean, we have a lot of sex in this movie. There’s a lot – a lot.”
When quizzed about the vulnerability portrayed between their characters in ‘Marty Supreme’, Paltrow amusingly replied, “Beyond.” She revealed that her character in the film is married to someone associated with the Ping-Pong mafia and finds herself drawn to Marty, played by Chalamet. Paltrow explained, “She’s had a pretty tough life, and I think he breathes life back into her, but it’s kind of transactional for them both.”
Interestingly, Paltrow mentioned that her ‘Mom Group Texts’ had been abuzz with chatter about the on-set photos of her kissing Chalamet. She further shared her discovery of intimacy coordinators, a role she had not encountered before, as she had previously not worked with one. Paltrow’s portrayal of a character caught in a romantic entanglement with Chalamet’s Marty required navigating intimate scenes, with the actress acknowledging a change in industry practices.
Discussing the interaction with the intimacy coordinator on the set of ‘Marty Supreme’, Paltrow reflected on the significance of consent and comfort in performing physical scenes. She shared her perspective, stating, “I don’t know how it is for kids who are starting out, but … if someone is like, ‘Okay, and then he’s going to put his hand here’ … I would feel, as an artist, very stifled by that.”
Paltrow also revealed insights into Chalamet’s professionalism, describing him as a “thinking man’s sex symbol”. She commended his dedication to the craft and highlighted his respectful approach towards their collaborative work. ‘Marty Supreme’ is scheduled for release on Dec. 25, promising audiences a compelling on-screen chemistry between Paltrow and Chalamet.
Gwyneth Paltrow and Timothée Chalamet’s portrayal of complex characters entwined in a gripping narrative in ‘Marty Supreme’ has generated anticipation among audiences and critics alike. As the film’s release date approaches, fans eagerly await the on-screen magic promised by this dynamic duo.
