General Gregory Guillot, the commander of NORAD and U.S. Northern Command, attributed the surge in air traffic near Trump’s Florida residence to civilian pilots failing to adhere to established flying protocols. Guillot emphasised the importance of complying with Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) procedures to ensure flight safety, national security, and the protection of the President. He highlighted the mandatory reading of Notice to Airmen (NOTAMS) before each flight, a requirement set by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Officials confirmed that neither interception disrupted Trump’s schedule or posed a risk to his security. The interceptions coincide with the administration’s downsizing of the FAA, with reports indicating abrupt dismissals of hundreds of employees following a tragic collision between a US Army helicopter and American Airlines Flight 5342, resulting in 67 fatalities.
