Renowned country singer Rory Feek recently took a moment to honour his late wife, Joey Feek, marking the ninth anniversary of her passing. Joey Feek tragically lost her battle with cancer at the age of 40 in March 2016. Rory, now 59, shared a touching tribute on Instagram on Tuesday, March 4, capturing their 11-year-old daughter Indiana visiting her mother’s gravesite.

In the heartfelt post, Rory shared a photo of Indiana adorning her mother’s grave with a bouquet of daffodils and a watering can. He expressed, “It’s been nine years today that Joey’s been gone. Every March at this exact time, the daffodils begin blooming here on the farm – just in time for Indiana to pick and bring to her Mama’s cross, as we think of and remember her…”

Rory and Joey, famous for their musical collaboration as the Grammy-winning country duo Joey+Rory, shared nearly 14 years of marriage before Joey’s untimely passing. In a previous interview with PEOPLE in 2020, Rory emotionally shared about life without Joey and how they both feel her presence ‘everywhere’ on their farm in Tennessee.

The country singer opened up about the frequent visits he and Indiana make to Joey’s resting place, where poignant moments often occur. Rory recounted a special instance when Indiana immediately recognised her mother’s voice on the radio, solidifying the eternal bond they share with Joey’s memory.
