Rapper Doechii has finally released her song “Anxiety,” which she first recorded in the comfort of her own bedroom back in 2019. The Grammy-winning artist initially recorded the track for her self-released mixtape titled Coven Music Sessions but held off on releasing it until now. Shedding light on the track’s background, Doechii took to her Instagram Stories on March 4 to delve into the story behind “Anxiety.”
During her Instagram Stories session, Doechii explained the intricate layers of the track, mentioning, “So, I’m dropping a song called ‘Anxiety.’ Now, you may be thinking, ‘Anxiety’ already came out. So, Sleepy Hallow — amazing artist, by the way — he dropped a song called ‘Anxiety’ where he was sampling my song called ‘Anxiety.'”

Doechii further shared that her 2019 version of “Anxiety” had sampled the 2011 hit “Somebody That I Used to Know” by Gotye featuring Kimbra. She added, “But my song is using the sample of ‘Somebody That I Used to Know,’ and then I took that beat from the track and created my own song on top of it called ‘Anxiety.’ So then I dropped that song on YouTube but never heard it streaming.”

The rapper continued her narrative by revealing how Sleepy Hallow went on to sample her song, which gained approval and subsequently went viral. This led to a rediscovery of the original version by fans on YouTube, propelling it to TikTok fame. Now, after much anticipation, Doechii has officially released the full version of “Anxiety” for her audience to enjoy, unveiling the true story behind the track.
This much-awaited release comes hot on the heels of Doechii’s recent triumph at the 2025 Grammy Awards, where she clinched a prestigious award for the best rap album. During her acceptance speech at the ceremony, the “Nosebleeds” artist expressed her gratitude and highlighted the dedication and personal journey that went into creating the award-winning mixtape.
Despite facing rumours of lip-syncing at the Grammy Awards, Doechii refuted the claims, citing a bout of bronchitis and flu during her complex performance. Her perseverance and dedication to her craft shone through as she addressed the audience, emphasising the significance of her win and the impactful journey that led her to that moment.
As she continues to make waves in the music industry, Doechii’s authenticity and talent have solidified her status as a rising star to watch. With “Anxiety” now out in the world, fans can fully appreciate the artistry and creativity that this talented artist brings to her work.
