A shocking incident occurred at Ocean Views Stable in Daly City, California, where a woman’s actions led to a 5-year-old child falling off a horse and fracturing his leg. The child’s mother, Meri Fuerte, recounted that on Sunday, Feb. 23, she accompanied her son for a horse ride at the stable, as reported by KTVU and Fox 26 News. The distressing moment was captured on video, showing a woman pulling the horse’s tail as the child sat atop, resulting in the boy being thrown off the spooked animal.

The video of the incident went viral, depicting the woman, accompanied by a man on the trail, laughing after causing the horse to startle and the child to fall. Meri Fuerte disclosed to KTVU that her son not only suffered a fractured leg but also a severe hematoma due to the fall. The Daly City Police Department later responded to the Thorton Beach Recreation Area to investigate the incident involving the child’s fall from the horse on the same day.

The police revealed that the juvenile rider fell off the horse after an unidentified female individual pulled its tail, startling the horse and resulting in the child being thrown off and sustaining injuries. The suspect, Tomasa Panjojleon, aged 29, from San Francisco, was identified and apprehended on Saturday, March 1, on charges of felony child endangerment. Despite being booked into San Mateo County Main Jail, she was subsequently released on bail, as reported by the authorities.

Following the disturbing event, Fuerte expressed her concern over the significant medical expenses incurred for her son’s treatment and criticised the swift release of the suspect on bail. Ocean View Stables staff mentioned that they were unaware of the extent of the child’s injuries initially but provided assistance to the family, as stated by Caroline Reed, the Barn Manager. They offered medical intervention, which was declined by the family, and allowed the child to get back on the horse.

Despite the initial lack of visible signs of a fractured leg, the child was later treated for his injuries. Fuerte emphasised the injustice she felt regarding the suspect’s swift release and the potential harm caused by her actions, narrating her concerns about the severity of the incident. The arrest of the woman brought some relief to the affected family, albeit the repercussions of the incident lingered through the medical expenses and emotional trauma endured by the child and his mother.
