Meghan Markle, the former star of the legal drama series ‘Suits,’ has been extended an “open invitation” to make a return to the show, according to an exclusive statement by Aaron Korsh, the creator of the popular series. During the premiere of ‘Suits LA,’ a spinoff of the original show, in California on Feb. 20, Korsh shared insights into the potential comeback of the Duchess of Sussex to reprise her role as Rachel Zane.

In an interview with PEOPLE, Korsh expressed his thoughts on the possibility of Meghan or any other original cast members making a cameo appearance on the show. He mentioned, “So, look, to me, we have thought about whether it be Meghan or any of the other cast members coming on and playing themselves as an actor. I think for me that’s a little… My brain blows up at the thought of that.” Korsh further added, “So I think it blows up the world too much. Obviously, if Meghan wants to come back under any circumstances, Meghan can come back.”
Despite the open invitation for Meghan to rejoin the cast, Korsh acknowledged the potential challenges of integrating her return seamlessly into the storyline, mentioning, “But I think realistically, it would be too much of an explosion of the fourth wall to do that.”
‘Suits LA’ is scheduled to debut on Feb. 23 within the same universe as the original series but with a fresh cast. The spinoff was announced following a surge in the original show’s popularity on Netflix. Meghan initially portrayed paralegal Rachel Zane in the first season of the series, marking a significant milestone in her acting career with 108 episodes before bidding adieu at the culmination of season 7.
Before her departure from ‘Suits,’ Meghan’s character, Rachel Zane, was written out of the storyline as she relocated to Seattle following her on-screen wedding to Mike Ross, played by Patrick J. Adams. Korsh highlighted the complexities of incorporating Meghan’s exit into the series, revealing that the decision was made before her engagement to Prince Harry in 2017.
In the lead-up to their wedding in May 2018, Meghan reflected on her departure from ‘Suits’ in a joint interview with Harry, where she emphasised the sense of pride in her work on the show and the excitement for a new chapter in her life alongside her husband. The couple’s engagement was announced in November 2017, coinciding with Meghan’s final episode on the series in April 2018.
As Meghan continues to explore new avenues post-royal life, her potential return to ‘Suits’ could reignite nostalgia among fans of the show and offer a glimpse into her acting career resurgence. With Korsh’s affirmations of an open invitation, the anticipation for a possible Rachel Zane comeback remains high for loyal viewers and supporters of the Duchess of Sussex.
