The toxicology reports revealed that both Nelson, aged 20, and Tsukahara, aged 19, also had substances in their systems at the time of the crash. Nelson’s blood alcohol level was reported to be 0.168%, while Tsukahara had a level of 0.028%. A preliminary investigation by the California Highway Patrol indicated that Dixon had lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a tree and a wall around 3:00 a.m. local time in Piedmont, near Oakland. The impact of the crash resulted in severe burns, leading to the tragic deaths of all three individuals on the scene.

Authorities also confirmed that a fourth individual was injured in the collision and was hospitalized in stable condition. This fourth passenger, identified as Jordan Miller, a 20-year-old student at the University of Wisconsin, was pulled from the Cybertruck by another motorist. The victims, Dixon, Nelson, and Tsukahara, were all graduates from Piedmont High School, with Dixon attending the University of Southern California, Nelson at the University of Colorado Boulder, and Tsukahara as a sophomore at the Savannah College of Art and Design.
Following the incident, the Piedmont Police released a statement expressing their sorrow over the tragic event and acknowledging the support from the community. It was reported that the victims were back home for Thanksgiving break at the time of the accident. As investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the crash, no immediate response was provided by the Alameda County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Office to requests for comments on the matter.
This devastating event serves as a reminder of the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. The consequences of such actions not only impact the individuals involved but also their families and communities. As the authorities work to piece together the events leading up to the crash, it is a stark reminder of the importance of responsible driving and the potential consequences of reckless behaviour on the road. The families and friends of the victims are left to mourn their loss, with the community rallying around them in support during this difficult time.
