Actress and mathematician Danica McKellar has announced the upcoming release of her latest children’s book. “I Love You 100: A Counting Book Full of Love” is set to hit shelves this fall, aiming to entertain and educate young readers about numbers and unconditional love. McKellar, known for her bestselling books like “Math Doesn’t Suck” and previous children’s books, shared details about her new project exclusively with PEOPLE magazine.

The book, targeted at children aged 4 to 8, follows the heartwarming story of a mother and son spending a day together. Through activities like playing with toy boats and swinging, the mother counts the many reasons she loves her child, emphasizing the endless supply of love. McKellar expressed her goal of creating a positive association with numbers for young readers, especially girls who may feel discouraged in math.
With illustrations by Josée Masse, “I Love You 100” is McKellar’s 12th math book and coincides with her 20 years as a math author. The actress-turned-author has been dedicated to demystifying math concepts and inspiring children of all ages. McKellar shared that the inspiration for this book stemmed from a special game she played with her son, Draco, when he was young — counting to 100 while expressing love at each number.
In addition to teaching children how to count to 100, the book also conveys a message of unconditional love between a parent and child, regardless of circumstances. McKellar’s passion for promoting math education, particularly encouraging women in STEM fields, has been recognized through various accolades over the years. Her advocacy continues through projects like “I Love You 100,” which reinforces the importance of love and support for children’s emotional well-being.
Through her latest book, McKellar emphasises the significance of children understanding the depth of parental love, regardless of their emotions or actions. She believes that instilling this sense of love and security early on will have a positive impact on children’s future relationships and success in subjects like mathematics. “I Love You 100” not only teaches counting but also nurtures a safe and loving environment for children to thrive.
“I Love You 100: A Counting Book Full of Love” is scheduled for release on November 4 and is now available for pre-order. McKellar’s dedication to empowering children through education and emotional support shines through in this heartwarming and educational children’s book. As she marks two decades in the world of math education, McKellar’s latest endeavour is set to inspire young readers to embrace learning and love in equal measure.
