Entangled Publishing, the home of the popular ‘The Empyrean’ series by Rebecca Yarros, has recently announced the launch of two new Young Adult (YA) imprints – Mischief Books and Mayhem Books. These imprints have been carefully curated to cater to the ever-changing needs of teenage readers, as per a press release shared exclusively with PEOPLE.
The CEO and publisher of Entangled, Liz Pelletier, highlighted the significant shift in the YA market towards catering more to adult readers, leaving teenagers in search of content tailored specifically for them. She emphasised the importance of acknowledging the diverse reading paces of teens and providing literature that resonates with their unique developmental stages.

Associate publisher at Entangled, Justine Bylo, expressed her vision of categorising YA literature into General YA, Mature YA, and New Adult sections. The introduction of Mischief and Mayhem Books aims to captivate young readers with bold narratives and unbridled creativity that evolve with the readers’ preferences.

Mayhem Books is set to debut its initial titles in Fall 2025. Geared towards readers aged 16 and above, this imprint will explore themes of romance and action while ensuring a mature approach to storytelling. The books released under Mayhem Books will carry a Mature 16+ rating on the jacket alongside content warnings for both teenagers and parents.
On the other hand, Mischief Books is set to launch in 2026, targeting readers aged 13 and older. The imprint aims to address contemporary themes relevant to today’s youth, serving as a source of guidance, entertainment, and inspiration. The titles under Mischief Books are handpicked to align with teenage interests and offer messages suitable for a broad age range.
The roster of authors for Mayhem Books includes debut writer Shannon J. Spann, Elise Kova, Nisha J. Tuli, Jess Lourey, as well as bestselling authors like Monica Murphy and Katherine Quinn. Each author brings a unique perspective to the imprint, promising diverse and engaging storytelling experiences for young readers.
Justine Bylo reflected on the significance of providing a safe literary space for mature teen readers through Mayhem Books. She noted that the late teen years symbolise a transformative journey towards adulthood, and these books are designed to accompany readers as they navigate the complexities of growing up.
As the world of YA literature continues to evolve, Entangled Publishing’s latest initiatives with Mischief Books and Mayhem Books pave the way for a new era of storytelling tailored to the distinct tastes and preferences of teenage readers. The dedication to crafting narratives that resonate with young audiences signifies a promising future for YA fiction enthusiasts.
In conclusion, the introduction of Mischief Books and Mayhem Books by Entangled Publishing marks a significant milestone in the realm of young adult literature. By focusing on creating engaging and relatable content for teenage readers, these imprints are poised to make a lasting impact on the evolving landscape of YA fiction.
