Three individuals have been charged by federal authorities in connection with the burglary at the home of Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow in December 2024. The suspects, identified as Jordan Francisco Quiroga Sanchez, Bastian Alejandro Orellana Morales, and Sergio Andres Ortega Cabello, all from Chile, are facing charges of transporting stolen goods interstate and falsifying records, according to a statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Southern District of Ohio.

U.S. Attorney Kenneth L. Parker highlighted that these suspects may only represent a fraction of a larger network of South American Theft Groups operating in the area. The investigation was initiated on December 9 when a close associate of Burrow reported a break-in at his residence. The burglars left clues such as a broken window and disarray in the rooms. Burrow himself was away in Dallas, Texas, for an NFL game during the incident.

Authorities were able to track down the suspects through trail camera footage showing someone carrying luggage near Burrow’s residence. The suspects were eventually apprehended at a hotel in Fairborn, Ohio, following a routine traffic stop by Ohio high patrol. Additional evidence was found indicating that Cabello had attempted to delete incriminating photos from his phone, leading to further charges in the federal investigation.
Pictures surfaced of the suspects proudly posing with the stolen items, including jewellery believed to be owned by Joe Burrow. The FBI Cincinnati shared a photo of the suspects on a bed, exhibiting the stolen goods and dressed up in lavish accessories. Special Agent in Charge Elena Iatarola expressed gratitude for the collaboration of agencies involved in the Southwest Ohio South American Theft Group Task Force for their dedication to this case.
The suspects have not yet entered pleas or secured legal representation to address the allegations against them. The incident underscores the prevalence of organised crime groups, with a focus on South American Theft Groups in the Cincinnati region. The authorities are continuing their efforts to combat such criminal activities and bring those responsible to justice.
The criminal report sheds light on the challenges law enforcement faces in tackling transnational crime and preserving the security of public figures like Joe Burrow. It serves as a stark reminder of the importance of robust security measures and vigilance, even for high-profile individuals in the community. The legal proceedings against the suspects are ongoing, as the justice system works towards accountability and restitution for the victims of burglary and theft.
