Melanie Hamrick, former ballerina and partner of music icon Mick Jagger, recently shared an update about her 8-year-old son Deveraux “Devi” Octavian. In a heartfelt post on Instagram Stories, Hamrick revealed a photo of Deveraux with his left leg in a cast and using crutches. She expressed her empathy for her son’s pain during his recovery, stating, “Nothing feels more true — When they hurt you hurt 😢.” Hamrick optimistically added, “He’ll be back playing football again in no time though !! 🥳 ❤️ ❤️ ❤️.”

In addition to Deveraux, Mick Jagger has seven other children from previous relationships. Jagger’s eldest daughter, Karis, 54, was born in 1970 to actress Marsha Hunt. He shares daughter Jade, 53, with ex-wife Bianca Jagger, and has four more children with ex-wife Jerry Hall: daughters Elizabeth, 41, and Georgia May, 33, and sons James, 39, and Gabriel, 27. Jagger also has a son, Lucas, 25, with Brazilian model Luciana Gimenez Morad.

On a lighter note, a video shared by Hamrick in April 2023 captured a sweet moment between Mick Jagger and Deveraux. At a Rolling Stones concert, Deveraux could be seen dancing enthusiastically in the crowd as his father performed on stage. The heartwarming video showcased the special bond between the father and son, highlighting the joy they share during such moments.
Reflecting on his experience as a father, Mick Jagger spoke with The Guardian in October 2023 about parenting his youngest son. He mentioned the adjustments required with each child, stating, “You get a bit out of practice — it’s not like riding a bike.” Jagger emphasised the importance of understanding each child’s unique personality and interests, noting that while parenting is enjoyable, it can be challenging when balancing work commitments.
Despite his busy schedule as a musician, Jagger prioritised spending time with Deveraux, especially during the lockdown periods. He acknowledged that being present for his son’s formative years was a rewarding experience, emphasising the significance of being actively involved in his child’s life. Jagger’s commitment to parenthood shines through in his interactions with Deveraux and his sincere efforts to create lasting memories with his son.
The news of Deveraux’s injury serves as a reminder of the vulnerability of children, even in the midst of high-profile families. Melanie Hamrick’s candid update on social media showcases the genuine concern and care she has for her son, resonating with parents who understand the inherent empathy felt when their children are in pain. The collective well-wishes and support for Deveraux’s recovery highlight the power of family bonds and the universal emotions shared between parents and their children.
As Deveraux continues his recovery journey, supported by his loving family, the incident underscores the importance of cherishing moments of health and vitality. Mick Jagger and Melanie Hamrick’s dedication to their son’s well-being exemplifies the strength of parental love and the resilience fostered within family units. In the face of adversity, the Jagger-Hamrick family’s unwavering unity and optimism stand as a beacon of hope, inspiring others to embrace challenges with courage and compassion.
