In a recent court hearing, Kathleen McAllister, who is the cousin of Denise Richards’ ex-husband Aaron Phypers, provided testimony supporting Richards’ claims of abuse against Phypers. The court session on October 6 was focused on Richards’ request to escalate the temporary restraining order against Phypers to a permanent one in the midst of their ongoing divorce proceedings.

McAllister recounted a distressing incident from January 17, 2022, where she claimed to have witnessed Phypers physically assault Richards, leaving her with a severe black eye. Describing the event, McAllister stated, “I saw Aaron hit Denise and immediately she had a really bad black eye. I’m literally in shock now to this day about it.” She further detailed the alleged assault, explaining how Phypers had purportedly struck Richards with the palm of his hand, causing shock and distress to both women.

The cousin asserted that the altercation stemmed from Phypers’ suspicions that Richards had planted listening devices in his office, an accusation that led to a tumultuous evening fuelled by alcohol and escalating arguments. This incident, according to McAllister, was just one in a series of violent encounters she had observed between the couple.
Richards initially raised accusations of domestic violence following Phypers’ divorce filing on July 7, prompting the granting of a temporary restraining order against him. Phypers swiftly refuted the claims, labelling them as “completely false and deeply hurtful,” but has yet to respond to McAllister’s recent revelations within the court proceedings.
During her testimony, McAllister also disclosed other instances of alleged abuse by Phypers towards Richards, including an incident where he purportedly pinned her against a concrete wall leading to a concussion. Additionally, she recounted a disturbing occurrence in the office bathroom where Richards sustained head injuries, allegedly caused by Phypers slamming her head against a toilet paper rack.
The period between January and May 2022 was characterised by what McAllister described as escalating abuse, with frequent outbursts of shouting and threatening behaviour from Phypers towards Richards. She highlighted the fear both she and Richards experienced due to Phypers’ alleged threats of violence, recalling moments when he menaced to kill them if they spoke out.
Amid assertions that alcohol played a role in Phypers’ aggression, McAllister’s testimony shed light on a toxic and volatile dynamic that concurred with Richards’ claims of abuse. The ongoing court saga between Richards and Phypers is set to continue until October 8, as the truth behind these troubling allegations unfolds.
McAllister’s testimony serves as a crucial piece in the legal battle between Denise Richards and Aaron Phypers, highlighting the gravity of domestic violence allegations and the importance of holding abusers accountable for their actions. Such hearings bring to light the complexities of intimate partner violence and the urgent need for support systems to protect survivors and prevent further harm. The courage shown by individuals like McAllister in speaking out against abuse is a vital step towards seeking justice and ensuring safety for all victims of domestic violence.
