‘Danielle Fishel Vows to Stay on ‘DWTS’ Despite Hamstring Injury’

Actress Danielle Fishel has made a commitment to remain on the popular show ‘Dancing with the Stars’ (DWTS) despite nursing a hamstring injury. The 44-year-old star, best known for her role in “Boy Meets World,” shared exclusively with PEOPLE that she is determined to continue in the competition, stating that she would only leave “on a stretcher.”


During the second week of DWTS, Fishel disclosed that she had suffered a hamstring injury while practising for the show. However, she bravely persevered through the pain and managed to deliver a Cha Cha routine, scoring 19 out of 30 with her partner Pasha Pashkov. Fishel’s dedication to the competition shines through as she reveals her mindset after enduring the injury.
Fishel explained the extent of her injury, stating, “I snapped a tendon in my hamstring.” Despite the seriousness of her condition, she received the news from a surgeon that she would not require surgery. Instead, she is focusing on rehabilitation and taking necessary steps towards recovery.
Acknowledging her partner’s support, Fishel expressed gratitude towards Pashkov for adjusting their choreography to accommodate her injury. This move will allow her some rest while continuing to participate in the dance routines. Fishel emphasised her determination by affirming that the only circumstance under which she would consider leaving the competition prematurely is if she had to be carried out on a stretcher.
Pashkov, aged 39, commended Fishel for her resilience, highlighting that her performance on stage did not betray any signs of her injury. Admirably, Fishel’s commitment and dedication to her craft shone through, with Pashkov praising her for dancing as if nothing had happened.
Reflecting on her time on DWTS, Fishel shared her emotional journey, particularly noting the significance of being able to perform on the show after battling cancer. The actress previously disclosed her diagnosis of ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) in 2024, undergoing radiation treatment as part of her cancer journey.
