Doechii Refutes Allegations of Lip-Synching at 2025 Grammys in Live Performance

Doechii has stepped forward to address the accusations of lip-synching during her performance at the 2025 Grammys. The 26-year-old rapper took to TikTok on Saturday, Feb. 15, to clarify the situation following claims that she had lip-synced during her live rendition of “Catfish” and “Denial Is a River” on Sunday, Feb. 2.
Addressing her followers, Doechii expressed her frustration, stating, “I can’t possibly get on here and say this calmly or nicely: y’all are stupid as hell.” She explained that the voice heard during her performance was her DJ’s, as she was physically engaged in acrobatics such as somersaults and complex choreography. Doechii’s set was characterised by elaborate acrobatics and intense choreography, including somersaulting off dancers’ shoulders and ascending a human staircase.

Emphasising the live nature of her performance, Doechii debunked the lip-synching claims by detailing her challenging physical state at the time. Despite battling bronchitis and the flu, she delivered a powerful performance, even incorporating microphone feedback caused by the beads she was wearing. The rapper passionately asserted, “I don’t lip-sync. Don’t ever f—ing play with me like that. Ever!”
