Tyson Foods Set to Remove High Fructose Corn Syrup from Popular Products

Tyson Foods, a prominent food company known for its brands like Jimmy Dean and Hillshire Farms, has announced a significant change to its product ingredients. The Arkansas-based company revealed its plan to eliminate high fructose corn syrup and other added sweeteners from its product line-up by the end of 2025. This decision, aimed at promoting healthier options for consumers, reflects Tyson’s commitment to providing quality products while maintaining taste and value.

In a press release on Monday, September 15, Tyson Foods disclosed that it would also discontinue the use of the artificial sweetener sucralose by the end of the year. Donnie King, the President and CEO of Tyson Foods, emphasised the company’s dedication to treating consumers like family and upholding the integrity of their iconic brands through this ingredient change.
Although Tyson did not provide a comprehensive list of products affected by the removal of high fructose corn syrup, all its brands, including Aidells, Hillshire Farms, Wright, and Jimmy Dean, are expected to undergo this transition. This move aligns with growing concerns about the health consequences of consuming excessive amounts of sweeteners like high fructose corn syrup, which can contribute to weight gain and inflammation, as noted by the Cleveland Clinic.
In addition to eliminating sucralose and high fructose corn syrup, Tyson Foods disclosed plans to discontinue the use of titanium dioxide, an FDA-approved colouring agent, as well as BHA/BHT, a preservative. This decision follows the company’s earlier shift away from petroleum-based synthetic dyes, indicating a broader commitment to enhancing product quality and health considerations.
