The suspect in the tragic death of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk, Tyler Robinson, had conversed with his family about Kirk before the assassination took place, according to Governor Spencer Cox. The Governor recounted details from a family member, stating that Robinson had expressed his disapproval of Kirk’s viewpoints during a family gathering, labelling Kirk as someone “full of hate” spreading negativity.

The fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk occurred during a Turning Point USA rally at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, on September 10. Kirk, 31, was targeted while addressing the crowd, with authorities suspecting the shooter fired from the roof of a building located 200 yards away from the event. Governor Cox highlighted that the inscriptions on the casings conveyed anti-fascist sentiments, with one reading, “Hey fascist, catch,” accompanied by a specific arrow symbol. Despite earlier misinformation, none of the messages referenced transgender issues. Another casing had a message saying, “If you read this you are gay lmao.”

Moreover, investigators came across messages on the Discord app, allegedly sent by Robinson, indicating his intentions to retrieve a rifle from a designated point. These findings shed light on the suspect’s mindset and potential premeditation leading up to the tragic incident. Family involvement in the case surfaced when a relative of Robinson reached out to a family acquaintance, suggesting that Robinson had either confessed or inferred his involvement in the shooting.

Video evidence captured by attendees of the rally depicted a figure in dark attire lying on the roof prior to the shooting. The FBI released surveillance footage illustrating the suspect in black attire running across the roof, descending from the building, and swiftly making their way towards a wooded area adjacent to the campus. A high-powered rifle believed to be the weapon used in the shooting was recovered by authorities, along with physical imprints on the roof believed to be left by the suspect.

Governor Cox assured the public that there is currently no information indicating the necessity for further arrests in connection with the case.
