Zorien Royce, a 4-year-old boy from Vernon Hills, Illinois, has recently made headlines for his exceptional intelligence and has become one of the youngest members ever to be admitted into Mensa, an international high-IQ society. Zorien’s remarkable abilities were recognised when he scored 156 out of 160 on the Wechsler Intelligence Test for Children at the age of 3, placing him in the “profoundly gifted” category. This achievement has catapulted him into a rare group of individuals who possess an IQ in the top 2% of the general population.

Apart from his exceptional IQ score, Zorien’s talents also extend to his linguistic and mathematical abilities. He can read at a third-grade level and is proficient in counting in five different languages, showcasing his diverse skills at such a young age. As a testament to his intellectual prowess, Zorien has also gained acceptance into Intertel, another prestigious high-IQ society, further solidifying his place among the intellectual elite.
Zorien’s parents, Monirupa Ananya and Naqib Royce, have been instrumental in nurturing and supporting their son’s extraordinary gifts. Recognising his rapid grasp of new concepts and his effortless retention of information, they have provided him with the necessary resources and guidance to channel his abilities effectively. By enrolling Zorien in Mensa, they aim to ensure that his talents are acknowledged and celebrated, while also fostering his growth in a supportive environment alongside like-minded individuals.
Charles Brown, the Director of Marketing and Communications at American Mensa, highlighted the significance of Zorien’s inclusion in the society, noting that only 5% of Mensa members are under the age of 12. This places Zorien in a unique category, where he will have access to specialised resources and support tailored to meet the distinct needs and challenges faced by gifted children. Brown emphasised the importance of identifying and nurturing gifted individuals from a young age, a challenge that Zorien’s parents have successfully navigated in their quest to develop his talents.
Mensa America recently lauded Zorien’s accomplishments on social media, describing him as a “multilingual math whiz” who exemplifies the boundless nature of curiosity and learning. By breaking barriers and defying age stereotypes, Zorien serves as an inspiration to young minds everywhere, demonstrating that intellectual curiosity knows no bounds. His story is a testament to the power of encouragement and support in unlocking the full potential of gifted individuals, regardless of their age.
In a world that often struggles to accommodate the unique needs of gifted children, Zorien’s journey stands as a shining example of how early recognition and nurturing can pave the way for exceptional achievements. As he embarks on this remarkable path of intellectual discovery and growth, Zorien continues to inspire others with his insatiable thirst for knowledge and his unwavering dedication to expanding his horizons. His story serves as a reminder that brilliance comes in all shapes and sizes, and that age is no barrier to making a profound impact in the world of academia and beyond.
