Actor Patrick Wilson recently opened up about his experience balancing parenthood and his acting career. In an exclusive interview timed to the release of The Conjuring: Last Rites, Wilson shared that his two children, Kalin Patrick and Kassian McCarrell, whom he shares with wife Dagmara Domińczyk, have little interest in spending time on his movie sets.

Wilson, who is 52 years old, has been a part of the Conjuring film series alongside his close friend and co-star, Vera Farmiga, since the series began in 2013. The pair portrays the real-life couple and paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren and are set to reprise their roles for the fourth and final movie in the franchise.
Despite their involvement in the long-running film series, Wilson and Farmiga revealed that their children have not been frequent visitors to the set. Wilson acknowledged that their kids, coming from families deeply rooted in the industry, find the set environment less appealing. He mentioned, “It lasts for about an hour. They’re like, ‘Okay, this is boring. We’re out.’ There’s not a lot of family hanging out on set usually.”
In addition to the lack of interest from their children, Wilson highlighted the challenges of scheduling family time around filming obligations. He mentioned that their kids have school and various activities to attend to, making it difficult for them to spend extended periods on set.
Farmiga, who is a mother to Fynn McDonnell and Gytta Lubov, also commented on the difficulties of incorporating family time into their work schedules. She noted that Wilson’s family has been more present on set compared to hers and shared the challenges of aligning shooting schedules with family commitments.
Last year, Wilson proudly announced that his son, Kalin, had signed a modelling contract in Los Angeles. Expressing his pride, Wilson shared a heartwarming message on Instagram, praising his son for embarking on his own path in the fashion industry.
Reflecting on their shared experiences working on the Conjuring movies, Farmiga emphasised the importance of their bond, stating, “His sense of humour is just the holy water to my hot mess. Time and time again he is able to make me giggle, whether it’s bringing me a homemade smoothie or curating some bourgeois coffee or crooning metal with me. He’s been a great friend.”
The Conjuring: Last Rites delves into the true story of the Smurl family haunting in Pennsylvania during the 1980s. Directed by Michael Chaves, the film marks the continuation of the Conjuring universe, which includes previous instalments like The Conjuring and The Conjuring 2.
As the release of The Conjuring: Last Rites approaches, Wilson and Farmiga’s insights into their family dynamics on set offer a glimpse into the complexities of balancing work and family life in the entertainment industry. Their candid revelations provide a behind-the-scenes look at the challenges and rewards of pursuing a career in acting while juggling parental responsibilities.
