Ghislaine Maxwell, the infamous associate of Jeffrey Epstein, has shed light on the relationship between Epstein and former US President Donald Trump. In a recent interview with a senior Department of Justice (DOJ) official, Maxwell described Trump and the disgraced financier as appearing “friendly.” The 63-year-old Maxwell, who was convicted on child sex trafficking charges and sentenced to 20 years, spoke candidly about her observations during the interview last month with Attorney General Todd Blanche.

During the extensive two-day interview in late July, Maxwell discussed various aspects of Epstein’s life and her perspectives on his connections, including her thoughts on Trump. The DOJ released over 300 pages of transcripts and audio files from the interview, revealing Maxwell’s insights on Trump and Epstein’s interactions. Maxwell mentioned that although she saw Trump and Epstein together in social settings, she did not witness any inappropriate behaviour between them.

Maxwell clarified that she only encountered Trump and Epstein in social settings and never in any private or intimate situations. She emphasised that the interactions she observed were typical of people in social gatherings and did not indicate a close friendship between Trump and Epstein. Maxwell also mentioned that she never saw Trump in any compromising situations or behaving inappropriately during her time with him.
In her discussion with Blanche, Maxwell revealed that she believed she met Trump in the 1990s through her father, British media mogul Robert Maxwell. She recalled her father’s positive view of Trump and described Trump as cordial and kind towards her. Maxwell expressed admiration for Trump’s presidential achievements and shared that she last saw him in the mid-2000s, emphasising her respect and fondness for him.
Furthermore, Maxwell was questioned about former US President Bill Clinton, whom she described as her friend and not Epstein’s acquaintance. She dispelled any notions of Clinton receiving massages while with Epstein, highlighting the distinctions between her relationships with Trump and Clinton. Maxwell’s insights into her interactions with prominent figures offer a glimpse into the complex web of associations surrounding Epstein and his circle.
The release of Maxwell’s interview transcripts coincides with renewed interest in the Epstein case, following his arrest on sex trafficking charges in 2019 and subsequent death in prison. Maxwell’s conviction for her involvement in facilitating Epstein’s crimes has brought her into the spotlight as she navigates the legal consequences of her actions. Her willingness to disclose information and her pursuit of a potential pardon raise intriguing questions about her motivations and the extent of her involvement in Epstein’s activities.
As the DOJ and FBI continue to investigate Epstein’s alleged crimes and the circumstances of his death, Maxwell’s testimony provides valuable insights into a dark chapter of recent history. The complex relationships and interactions she describes offer a glimpse into the inner workings of Epstein’s world and the influential figures who were connected to him. Maxwell’s narrative adds another layer to the multifaceted saga of Epstein, Trump, and other prominent individuals entangled in the scandal.
