Dog Who Chewed Off Foot in Escape Still Awaits Adoption 1 Year Later

Axel, a resilient canine, is still searching for a forever home even after a year since his recovery. Despite the anticipated high medical costs and extensive care needed, Ollie’s Angels saw the bravery and spirit in Axel’s eyes and decided to give him the opportunity he deserved. Axel arrived at Ollie’s Angels with minimal background information, but the rescue suspects his early days involved loneliness and struggles for survival.
Upon arrival, Axel was in poor shape – emaciated, heartworm positive, and in need of immediate medical attention. Ollie’s Angels provided Axel with the necessary care, starting with heartworm treatment and eventually leading to an amputation surgery to alleviate the discomfort in his injured leg. Despite facing various health challenges, Axel remained resilient and showed immense gratitude for the love and care he received.
With the help of a donated wheelchair, Axel has transformed from a weak and thin dog to an energetic and confident companion.
