Four Shot During Barbecue at Senior Living Complex — Neighbor Says ‘Love Triangle’ is to Blame

Four people were shot during a barbecue at a senior living complex, with reports indicating a possible ‘love triangle’ as the underlying cause of the violent incident. Three individuals were wounded by the initial shots, but one of the victims managed to tackle the shooter to the ground. Following the shooting, all four wounded victims were admitted to Detroit Receiving Hospital and were reported to be in stable condition. While Williams initially suggested that the shooting was a result of noise complaints, a neighbour disclosed a different account of events to the media. Reginal Ervin, a resident of the complex, stated that the altercation stemmed from a ‘love triangle’, involving a man in his early 70s, his ex-partner in her 65s, and her new boyfriend in his 70s who was in a wheelchair.

Ervin recounted that the shooter targeted the new boyfriend and two others before being subdued by someone at the scene, leading to the gun being dropped. In a surprising turn of events, the ex-partner retrieved the weapon and shot the assailant. Another neighbour, Joe Nathan Piper, commented on the incident, highlighting that such disputes were not uncommon in the area, regardless of age, suggesting that certain individuals maintain a predisposition towards violence throughout their lives.
