Philadelphia Eagles’ star tight end, Dallas Goedert recently sat down with PEOPLE in an exclusive interview to discuss a significant factor that has positively impacted his health after the team’s glorious victory at the 2025 Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs. The game ended with an impressive 40-22 win for the Eagles, leaving Goedert elated. In recollecting his experience, he shared, “It was a ton of fun. It’s still hard to believe. It feels like I’m dreaming, but I’m enjoying it, that’s for sure.”

Aside from the remarkable win, what made the victory even sweeter for Goedert was the absence of any discomfort caused by his plaque psoriasis during the game, a chronic condition where the immune system becomes overactive, leading to the rapid multiplication of skin cells. The most common form, plaque psoriasis, is characterised by raised, red patches of skin covered with silvery-white scales, typically appearing symmetrically on the body.

Having been diagnosed with psoriasis at the tender age of 10, Goedert had always felt self-conscious about the skin condition, particularly as an athlete. Recalling his struggles, he mentioned, “I’d have friends, teachers asking me what it is. Being a kid with that, it was tough to tell people. So I tried to hide it.” In the past, he would often resort to wearing long sleeves to conceal the condition, both on and off the field.
The challenges escalated for Goedert when his psoriasis flare-ups would cause itching and distractions while playing. His attempts with numerous topical treatments proved futile due to his active lifestyle as a football player, involving frequent sweating and exposure to hot and cold conditions. Nevertheless, after more than two decades of battling with plaque psoriasis, the NFL star finally discovered a game-changing treatment with the help of Amgen—a pill named Otezla, which has significantly improved his quality of life in recent months.
Expressing his gratitude for finding a solution that aligns with his lifestyle, Goedert states, “It has been a complete game changer for me. Finding that has just made my life a little bit easier and I’m thankful for that.” He also encourages others facing similar challenges to remain hopeful and proactive in finding suitable treatments with the guidance of healthcare professionals.
Now, liberated from the distress of psoriasis flare-ups, Goedert can fully immerse himself in celebrating the Eagles’ Super Bowl triumph. He shared details of the post-game festivities, mentioning, “After the game, the Eagles hosted a great afterparty for family and friends, and all sorts of people were able to come out. Shane Gillis was back there partying with us, so that was really cool. We enjoyed it.” He eagerly anticipates the team’s victory parade scheduled in their hometown on Feb. 14, expecting a week-long celebration to mark the occasion.
Goedert’s journey serves as a beacon of hope for those struggling with similar health challenges, showcasing the importance of perseverance and seeking effective solutions in managing chronic conditions. His openness about his experiences with plaque psoriasis not only sheds light on the condition but also empowers individuals to embrace their health struggles and advocate for their well-being.
As Dallas Goedert continues to bask in the glory of the Super Bowl victory, his story stands as a testament to the resilience and determination required to overcome obstacles and thrive, both on and off the field.
