Renowned comedian and podcaster, Bobby Lee, recently revealed his thoughts on being dropped from the cast of ‘And Just Like That…’ for the third season. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly at the San Diego Comic-Con 2025, Lee, 53, expressed his belief that he was removed along with other “woke elements” from the show. He portrayed the character of Jackie Nee, the podcast co-host of Carrie Bradshaw (played by Sarah Jessica Parker), during the initial two seasons of the Sex and the City sequel. Despite enjoying his time on the series, Lee acknowledged feeling as though he was let go due to certain changes in the show’s direction.

The departure of Lee was not an isolated incident, as several other cast members also exited the show before the third season commenced. Sara Ramirez, who played Che Diaz, Miranda Hobbes’ (portrayed by Cynthia Nixon) love interest, bid farewell in season 2. Additionally, Karen Pittman, known for her role as Nya Wallace, Miranda’s supportive law school professor turned roommate, also parted ways with the series before season 3 unfolded. Although Lee’s character’s journey on the show came to a close organically, following Carrie’s switch from podcasting to focusing on writing, he was not the only one affected by this narrative shift.
Reflecting on his time working on ‘And Just Like That…’, Bobby Lee had nothing but praise for his co-star, Sarah Jessica Parker, whom he described as “the nicest person I’ve ever met.” He credited Parker for creating a comfortable environment on set and commended the entire cast for their professionalism. Lee admitted to initially feeling reluctant to join the show due to it not aligning with his usual brand, but ultimately, he decided to confront his fears and take on the challenge.
In a candid revelation, Lee shared that his experience on the series played a significant role in his journey to sobriety. Recalling a pivotal moment during which he was blackout drunk in Hawaii and received a sudden call from his agent requiring him to travel to New York for filming, Lee acknowledged that this incident served as a wake-up call. Despite initially struggling with substance abuse, the demands of the show compelled him to reassess his lifestyle choices and commit to getting sober. Lee acknowledged that failing to address his addiction could have jeopardised his career prospects.
The decision to part ways with Bobby Lee and other cast members was a part of broader changes within the ‘And Just Like That…’ series, as it navigates different storylines and character arcs in its third season. This departure underscores the evolving nature of the show and the creative decisions made by the production team. As the audience continues to follow the latest season of the sequel, the absence of familiar faces like Lee’s serves as a testament to the ever-changing dynamics of the entertainment industry.
‘And Just Like That…’ continues to captivate viewers with its exploration of modern relationships, personal growth, and societal shifts. The departure of Bobby Lee and other cast members may signal a deliberate narrative choice to streamline the storyline, focusing on the core characters’ development. This decision highlights the show’s commitment to remaining relevant and engaging while addressing contemporary issues. Despite the challenges faced by Lee and his character’s exit from the series, his contributions to the show will be remembered by fans and colleagues alike.
