Cameron Diaz is making waves in the entertainment industry once again as she continues her return to acting. The celebrated actress is set to star in a new Netflix action-comedy titled ‘Bad Day’. This marks Diaz’s second film since her comeback, following her appearance in Netflix’s ‘Back in Action’ earlier this year.

The upcoming film, directed by Jake Szymanski, will see Diaz in the lead role as a single mom determined to uphold a promise to her daughter on what is described as the worst day of her life. Production for the movie is slated to begin this fall in locations across New York and New Jersey. The project is set to be executive produced by Laura Solon and Mark Moran, with Beau Bauman producing for Good One Productions. Solon, known for works like ‘Let It Snow’ and ‘Office Christmas Party’, has crafted the script for ‘Bad Day’.

While ‘Bad Day’ is classified as a comedy, it draws inspiration from the 1993 drama ‘Falling Down’, directed by the late Joel Schumacher and starring Michael Douglas. Diaz’s return to the screen comes after a prolonged hiatus during which she focused on personal milestones such as marrying Benji Madden and becoming a mother to two children – daughter Raddix, 5, and son Cardinal, born in March 2024.
Diaz’s comeback began with her role alongside Jamie Foxx in ‘Back in Action’, where she shared the screen with acting legend Glenn Close. Additionally, fans can look forward to seeing Diaz reprise her iconic voice role as Princess Fiona in ‘Shrek 5’, scheduled for release in December 2026. The star-studded cast for the new instalment includes Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Zendaya, who will voice Shrek and Fiona’s daughter, Felicia.
Reflecting on her return to acting, Diaz expressed gratitude for the opportunity to reignite her passion for filmmaking. She credited Jamie Foxx for playing a pivotal role in her decision to return to the industry. Diaz emphasised the importance of seizing the moment and embracing the chance to explore new projects and opportunities.
In a recent interview, Diaz hinted at the possibility of future projects post-‘Back in Action’. She discussed the uncertainty surrounding her involvement in future films, indicating that she reserves the right to accept or decline roles as she sees fit. With a touch of humour, Diaz playfully remarked that she may shift focus from romantic comedies to ‘momcoms’ in her future endeavours.
As Diaz forges ahead with her acting career, fans eagerly anticipate her upcoming projects and the diverse roles she will bring to life on screen. With a successful comeback in full swing, Cameron Diaz continues to captivate audiences with her talent and versatility in the world of entertainment.
