According to the Lindenwold Police Department in New Jersey, there have been difficulties in reaching Simran’s family in India for any leads on her disappearance. The police revealed that there were suspicions that the arranged marriage might have been a means for getting free airfare to the United States. Surveillance footage captured Simran appearing to be waiting for someone while looking at her phone, showing no signs of distress.
Adding to the mystery, Simran is said to only have an international phone that operates on wifi, making communication even more challenging. Authorities are currently facing a roadblock as there are no known family members in India that they can contact for information on Simran’s possible whereabouts, making the search for her even more complex.

Described as 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighing approximately 150 lbs., and with a small scar on the left side of her forehead, Simran was last seen wearing grey sweatpants, a white t-shirt, black flip flops, and small diamond-studded earrings. The Lindenwold Police Department shared these distinctive identifiers in hopes that it might aid in locating her as the search intensifies.
The police urge anyone with information about Simran or her location to reach out to Detective Joe Tomasetti at 856-784-7566 ext:421 or via email at jtomasetti@lindenwoldpd.com. The authorities, in their quest to find Simran, are diligently following up on any leads that may shed light on her disappearance, with the hope of ensuring her safety and well-being.
Arranged marriages are a common tradition in India, with over 90% of married individuals in the country reportedly being part of such unions, as revealed by the BBC. Simran’s case underscores the complexities and challenges that can arise in transnational relationships and the importance of safeguarding individuals’ rights and safety in such circumstances.
As the search for Simran continues, the authorities are working tirelessly to uncover the circumstances surrounding her disappearance and ascertain her current location. The community is urged to come forward with any information that could assist in locating Simran and bringing her back to safety. The unfolding situation serves as a reminder of the vulnerabilities faced by individuals in unfamiliar environments and the necessity of swift and coordinated efforts to ensure their protection.
