Man Arrested After Skull of Missing Woman Found in His Apartment

A shocking discovery has led to the arrest of a 31-year-old man in Japan after the skull of a missing woman was found in his apartment. The victim, 21-year-old Kaho Miyamoto, was last seen at JR Omiya Station in Saitama on January 4, 2018. Reports indicate that Miyamoto met the suspect, Jun Saito, at the train station before heading back to his residence in Omiya Ward, Saitama City.

Jun Saito was taken into custody on May 15 after being suspected of stealing a woman’s smartphone. During a search of his home, authorities uncovered two skulls and other bones stored on a shelf. One of the skulls was identified as belonging to Miyamoto, while the origin of the second skull is believed to have been an online purchase made by Saito.

According to police investigations, Miyamoto and Saito took a train from Tsuchiura Station in Ibaraki to Omiya Station, where they proceeded to Saito’s apartment. It is alleged that Saito confessed to killing Miyamoto and dismembering her body at his residence. Police found tools such as knives and saws that they suspect were used in the heinous crime.

In his confession to authorities, Saito admitted to strangling Miyamoto at his home, stating, “I invited her to my home, strangled her, and dismembered her body at my home. I strangled her with a rope.” Reports suggest that Miyamoto, who was reportedly experiencing suicidal thoughts at the time, was asked by Saito to write a suicide note and had her SIM card removed from her smartphone during the encounter.

Tragically, Miyamoto’s family expressed disbelief and grief upon learning of the horrific fate that befell their daughter.
