FBI Releases New Photos of Suspect Tied to Minnesota Lawmakers Shootings, as Manhunt Continues Over 24 Hours Later

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has recently unveiled new photographs of Vance Boelter, who is currently being sought for the alleged involvement in the shooting incidents targeting two Democratic lawmakers and their spouses in Minnesota. The FBI has offered a reward of up to $50,000 for any information that could lead to the capture and conviction of Boelter, stressing that he should be considered armed and dangerous.

In the images released by the FBI, Vance Boelter, aged 57, is depicted wearing a cowboy hat in one photo and what seems to be a navy outfit with black tactical gear and a mask in another. During a press conference shortly after the tragic events, officials disclosed that Boelter was last seen wearing light-colored attire with a cowboy hat and carrying a dark bag. The FBI’s Minneapolis Field Office is collaborating closely with the Minnesota Department of Public Safety’s Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the Brooklyn Park Police Department as the search for Boelter intensifies.

The manhunt for Vance Boelter is ongoing more than 24 hours after the fatal attack that led to the death of state Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark Hortman. A separate shooting incident involving state Sen. John Hoffman and his wife Yvette Hoffman also occurred. Chief Mark Bruley of the Brooklyn Park Police Department remarked during the initial press briefing that the suspect had impersonated a police officer and subsequently fled the scene on foot. Moreover, a vehicle associated with the suspect was discovered to resemble an SUV squad car, containing a document with a list of names, as reported by CNN.

Boelter, who has brown eyes, weighs 220 pounds, stands at 6’1″ and sports gray hair, has been identified as a suspect in the attacks. His professional background includes employment at companies like Nestle, Del Monte, Tesoro, Marathon Speedway, and 7-Eleven over the years, as outlined on the Minnesota Africans United website. Furthermore, Boelter is listed as the CEO of Red Lion Group, based in the Democratic Republic of Congo, since 2021, according to information from what appears to be his LinkedIn profile.

Governor Tim Walz highlighted that the killing of Hortman and her husband appeared to be politically motivated, denouncing the use of violence to settle differences. “We are not a country that settles our differences at gunpoint,” Walz asserted. The Minnesota Department of Public Safety has issued a cautionary advisory urging the public not to approach Boelter if sighted, but instead contact 911 immediately or the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension tip line with any pertinent information.
