Kansas City Chiefs’ quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, is set to make his fifth Super Bowl appearance. The 29-year-old star will lead his team against the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX on February 9, marking a notable milestone in his career. If Mahomes and the Chiefs secure a victory, they will achieve a historic feat as the first team to win the Super Bowl three consecutive years. As we anticipate this exciting match-up, let’s take a trip down memory lane to revisit all of Mahomes’ previous Super Bowl wins since he entered the league in 2017.
In 2024, the Kansas City Chiefs faced off against the San Francisco 49ers in a thrilling showdown. The closely contested game ended with the Chiefs emerging victorious with a 25-22 win. Following the game, Mahomes celebrated on the field with his wife, Brittany, and their children Sterling and Bronze, expanding their family to five with the addition of daughter Golden in January 2025. Mahomes was honoured with the prestigious title of Super Bowl MVP for the third time in his career and achieved a rare back-to-back win, a feat not seen since Terry Bradshaw in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
The 2023 Super Bowl saw the Chiefs competing against the Philadelphia Eagles in a high-stakes battle. The match held added significance as tight end Travis Kelce, alongside Mahomes, faced off against his brother, Jason Kelce, who played as the Eagles’ center at the time. In a nail-biting finish, Mahomes, Kelce, and the rest of the team secured a narrow victory of 38-35 over the Eagles. When questioned about the Chiefs potentially being a “dynasty” after two Super Bowl titles in four years, Mahomes humbly responded, “We’re not done yet!”
Mahomes’ inaugural Super Bowl win came in 2020, just three years after his debut with the Kansas City Chiefs. At the age of 24, he led the team to a triumphant 31-20 victory against the San Francisco 49ers. This milestone victory not only earned Mahomes the Super Bowl MVP title but also saw him receiving recognition as one of Sports Illustrated’s Sportspersons of the Year. The quarterback’s wife, Brittany, expressed her pride and love for him on social media, commemorating the win with a heartfelt message amidst the celebratory confetti.
Despite a successful start, the Chiefs faced a setback in the following year’s Super Bowl in 2021, experiencing a tough 31-9 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers led by Tom Brady. This defeat, however, did not deter Mahomes and the team from their pursuit of excellence on the field. As they gear up for the upcoming Super Bowl clash against the Philadelphia Eagles, the Chiefs will seek to reclaim the championship glory and cement their status as a formidable force in the league under Mahomes’ leadership.
As we await the thrilling encounter between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX, the spotlight shines on Patrick Mahomes and his remarkable journey to five Super Bowl appearances. Will Mahomes guide his team to yet another historic victory, securing their place in football immortality? Only time will tell as the gridiron warriors prepare to battle it out on the grandest stage of them all.
