Grant, a versatile artist who sculpts, paints, and collaborates with Reeves on a book imprint, reflected on the unexpected attention she received due to her relationship with Reeves. She humorously recalls her surprise at being featured for her hair colour in The New York Times, considering her diverse upbringing as a third-culture child shaped her adaptable perspective on life’s offerings.
Having recently concluded an art exhibition in Poland, Grant now embarks on a unique venture into winemaking with the launch of a sparkling California Brut named “Love,” in partnership with J Vineyards in Sonoma. Drawing on her multicultural background, she attributes her early exposure to different culinary traditions and celebrations as the foundation for her passion for food and beverages.

Grant reminisces about her formative years in Paris, where an emphasis on appreciating the culinary arts underscored the cultural significance of food and drink. She recognises the intrinsic value of communal dining experiences, particularly in contrast to the marketing-driven food culture prevalent in the U.S, advocating for a more holistic approach to celebrating through mindful consumption.
The artist’s foray into winemaking was a long time in the making, spanning over a decade of exploring vineyards before finding the ideal collaborators in Stephanie Gallo and Caroline Shaw from J Vineyards. Emphasising the importance of female representation in the male-dominated industry, Grant aims to empower women through her wine initiative by highlighting the contributions of women in the arts through label collaborations.

As Grant immerses herself in the creative process of winemaking, she draws parallels between the artistry involved in painting and the intricate craft of producing wine. Despite the glamour associated with the end product, she acknowledges the gritty reality of the production process, highlighting the collaborative efforts and dedication required to achieve a remarkable outcome.
A significant aspect of the “Love” wine project is its commitment to supporting women in the arts, with a portion of the sales proceeds allocated towards this cause. Through her grantLove non-profit organisation, Grant advocates for arts education as a fundamental right, believing in the transformative power of creativity and imagination in fostering a more inclusive society.
While Grant’s visibility has increased alongside her relationship with Reeves, she remains grounded in her artistic pursuits and values the transformative journey of creation. Balancing the allure of occasional glamorous outings with the gritty work of artistic expression, Grant savours the process of creativity while cherishing the moments of celebration that punctuate her artistic odyssey.
As LOVE Wine, the limited-release California Brut Cuvée, prepares for its launch on February 14, 2025, enthusiasts can anticipate a blend of artistry and affection in every sip. With a mission to elevate women in the arts and celebrate the joy of creativity, Alexandra Grant’s latest venture embodies a fusion of passion, purpose, and a profound appreciation for the art of living and loving.
