In a recent development, Dylan Saborio, the former manager of Avery Cyrus, has filed a defamation lawsuit against the influencer. Saborio is claiming that Cyrus, aged 25, utilised her social media platform to sabotage his career, leading to a loss of opportunities and spreading false accusations. The lawsuit, which seeks $536,546.15 in special damages, also demands a public apology from Cyrus.

The lawsuit accuses Cyrus, whose real name is Avery Renee Blanchard, of confessing during a Zoom call that she exploited Saborio for her own benefit, lacked genuine care for him, and manipulated their close and trusting relationship. Saborio alleges a pattern of deliberate emotional harm and reputational damage caused by Cyrus, culminating in his exclusion from the professional sphere from mid-2022 onwards.
Furthermore, Saborio claims that Cyrus was behind coordinated attacks on his character, labelling him as ‘creepy,’ ‘horrible,’ and even a ‘predator.’ These damaging accusations left Saborio perplexed until he allegedly discovered Cyrus’ involvement in the defamation. The lawsuit details instances where Cyrus allegedly made disparaging remarks about Saborio during a TikTok livestream, falsely accusing him of abusive behaviour and inciting social media backlash against him.
Additionally, Saborio asserts that Cyrus and her social media associates endeavoured to alienate him from the industry, leading to a prolonged period of unemployment, financial instability, and homelessness. While Saborio struggled to make ends meet and lost his vehicles due to repossession, Cyrus continued to thrive publicly and financially, attending exclusive events without facing any repercussions.
The lawsuit also references statements made by Jojo Siwa, Cyrus’ former girlfriend, who accused Cyrus of leveraging their relationship for personal gain, echoing concerns about Cyrus’ manipulative behaviour. Saborio further claims that credible news outlets have documented Cyrus’ alleged pattern of manipulation, with multiple instances of exploiting personal relationships for professional advancement.
In response to the lawsuit, a representative for Cyrus stated they were not aware of the legal action, while Saborio did not provide an immediate comment on the matter. The conflict between Cyrus and Saborio highlights the complex dynamics within influencer-manager relationships and raises questions about accountability and ethical conduct in the digital age.
As the case unfolds, it sheds light on the challenges faced by behind-the-scenes professionals in the influencer industry, where power dynamics and personal relationships can have far-reaching consequences. The outcome of this lawsuit may set a precedent for accountability and transparency within the realm of social media influence, prompting influencers and their teams to reassess their working dynamics and ethical responsibilities.
