Martha Stewart, the renowned lifestyle guru, recently took to Instagram to share a health update concerning one of her beloved French bulldogs. In a heartfelt post on Thursday, Feb. 6, Stewart, 83, revealed that her dog, Crème Brûlée, had to undergo eye surgery due to a severe infection in her left eye.
The concerning issue began two weeks prior when Crème Brûlée’s left eye showed signs of cloudiness, discoloration, and eventually became very bloody. Stewart promptly took her pup to their vet, Dr. Jean Quaintance, who recommended a visit to the Animal Eye Clinic in Wilton, Conn. The diagnosis revealed a deep ulcerated eye infection, necessitating the removal of the entire eye and the insertion of an artificial one.

Stewart shared photos on Instagram of Crème Brûlée both pre and post-surgery, showing the Frenchie with stitches where her eye once was and later at a follow-up appointment after the successful operation. Expressing gratitude, Stewart thanked the veterinarians at the Animal Eye Clinic for their exceptional care and expertise in treating her furry companion.

This isn’t the first time Stewart has been open about her pets’ health struggles. In 2022, she sadly disclosed that four of her dogs had unintentionally caused the death of one of her cats, Princess Peony. Despite the heartbreaking loss, Stewart continues to cherish the memories of her pets and remains dedicated to their well-being.
In addition to her French bulldogs and Persian cats, Stewart recently welcomed a new addition to her furry family, a 4-year-old silver-shaded Persian cat named Magnolia. She adopted Magnolia through a non-profit organization and introduced her to the eclectic group of animals residing at her farm in Katonah, N.Y.
Stewart’s commitment to caring for animals is evident in her diverse menagerie, which includes not only cats and dogs but also Bengal cats, peacocks, chickens, horses, donkeys, and geese. With a passion for animal welfare, Stewart advocates for pet adoption and encourages others to consider giving a forever home to animals in need.
As a self-proclaimed animal lover, Stewart’s dedication to her pets shines through in her social media posts and public appearances. By sharing her experiences with her furry companions, she highlights the importance of providing love, care, and quality veterinary treatment for all animals, no matter their size or species.
In a world where pets are considered cherished family members, Martha Stewart’s story serves as a reminder of the bond between humans and animals and the importance of prioritizing their health and well-being. Through her transparency and advocacy, Stewart continues to inspire others to be compassionate and responsible pet owners, nurturing a world where all animals are valued and cared for with love.
